About Us
What to Expect
Our offices are located in the heart of charming Sierra Madre, California. Ample street parking is available or there is a public lot adjacent to the building along the alleyway behind the building off of Auburn Avenue (please avoid the numbered spaces, as these are reserved). Upon arrival, you can relax in the downstairs waiting room until your therapist greets you at the start of your session.
Therapy sessions are weekly and are scheduled by your therapist in advance. Standard sessions are 50-minutes in length. Therapy can be conducted in office or via teletherapy within California.
Therapy is a process that is unique to each client. Some presenting issues can be worked on very effectively in a fairly short period of time. Other challenges may take much longer. It can be difficult to predict exactly how long therapy will last and this is best discussed in your first session. You and your therapist will put together a treatment plan and goals that you will be working toward.
Our Approach
Our goal as therapists is to help people navigate through difficulties in their life and relationships while providing a safe place to heal, explore, develop insight, practice healthy coping tools, and integrate changes. The style of the therapists at Attachment Based Tx is client-centered, attachment-focused, humanistic, collaborative, honest, direct and empathic.
Our practice is highly relational and favors Eye Movement Desensitization Re-processing (EMDR), an advanced and highly effective approach for healing deep trauma and attachment wounds. Our therapists are engaged in continuous training, to stay current in our specialty fields. With an attachment focus, we specialize in the care of all members of the foster and adoption constellation as well as others suffering from attachment injury. We combine Psychodynamic, Developmental, Emotion-focused, and Cognitive-Behavioral interventions while weaving elements of IFS, DNMS and even principles from 12-step recovery models into the fabric of care.
Making an Appointment
After reviewing our therapists, contact us via the listed phone number, email, or contact form. You can expect to hear back within 24 hours, except on weekends. During the initial call, the therapist will gather some basic information from you, including what brings you to therapy, discuss session fee and appointment availability, as well as answer any questions or concerns you may have. Should you choose to proceed, an initial consultation or appointment will be scheduled. Prior to the appointment, you will be given access to the online client portal where you can review and sign required documentation before services begin. If you have any questions during this process, please reach out to your therapist.
Fees and Insurance
Session rates are $160 - $275 per session.
Limited sliding scale rates may be available. Cash, check, or credit card are accepted.
Limited insurance slots are available through Kaiser and Cigna.
Out-of-network reimbursement, or partial reimbursement, may be available for most PPO insurance plans, depending on your insurance provider and benefits package. Your insurance provider can give details about your out-of-network coverage for therapeutic services. If coverage is available, we can provide you with a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance company.
When contacting your insurance provider, some questions to ask include:
Does my health care coverage include out-of-network mental health benefits?
What does that benefit cover? A percentage of the session fee? Is there a cap on the amount of session fees covered?
What is my annual deductible? Have I met the deductible yet?
Are there any limits to the number of therapy sessions covered per year? If so, how many?
